MD Banca de Inversión acted as financial advisors to Fundación Mundo Mujer on the acquisition of a controlling stake in UNI2 Microcrédito S.A.S.
Fundación Mundo Mujer is the controlling shareholder of Banco Mundo Mujer S.A., Colombia’s leading microfinance bank, with over 35 years of experience providing financial services to underserved populations. The bank has established itself as a key player in the sector, managing the largest microcredit portfolios in the country and maintaining a strong presence in both rural and low-income urban areas.
UNI2 Microcrédito S.A.S. is a non-regulated financial institution specialized in vehicle microloans (cargo and motorcycles) for microentrepreneurs, farmers, and self-employed individuals. The company operates in 8 departments across Colombia and employs over 280 people. UNI2 has reached USD 40 million in microloans, with a 45% loan portfolio CAGR over the past four years.
The transaction involved a combination of a primary capital injection (cash in), the acquisition of existing shares (cash out), and a management incentive plan. This acquisition aligns with Fundación Mundo Mujer’s inorganic growth strategy and its mission to promote financial inclusion and economic development in underserved communities through access to credit and other financial services.
